Malaysia`s No.1 Latin couple, Chua Zjen Fong and Evon Chong will represent Malaysia at the coming World DanceSport Games to be held in Kaohsiung from 16th to 20th September 2013.
Chua and Evon who are currently ranked No.285 in the WDSF World Ranking List have made much improvement since 2010 when they started participating in the Malaysia national and WDSF international events.
Their better performances include making semifinals for the 2011 ADSF Closed in Thailand, 2012 Asia Pacific in New Zealand, 2012 Asian Championship in Macau and 2012 WDSF Open in Taipei and the finals of 2011 Asian Single Dance Championship in Taipei.
They were placed 13th in the 2011 Asia Pacific and 17th out of 74 couples in the 2011 WDSF Open in Melbourne. In 2012 they were placed 31st out of 150 in the WDSF Grand Slam in Chengdu. In 2013 they shot up to 4th place in the ADSF Closed in Hong Kong.
Chua and Evon are undoubtedly among the all-time top Latin dancers to have emerged from Malaysia. They are hardworking, motivated and disciplined and have attended various training stints in China and Denmark.
Right now they are all geared to compete and rub shoulders with the world`s best in the World DanceSport Games in Kaohsiung. At this point, irrespective of the results, it is already an honour for them to be selected by WDSF for this prestigious event.
Apart from honour and prestige, it will be a world of experience for the young Chua and Evon who are expected to be contributing much to the future positive development of DanceSport in Malaysia.
